How to Make a Referral

Perhaps you're trying to help someone else along on their journey. Sometimes, there's someone we know - a loved one, friend, or if you're a medical professional, a patient of yours - who needs a hand up in life. If someone has trusted you enough to share part of their story with you, then we want to help you give them the support they need.

Always be aware that many people, even if they ask for your help, are embarrassed and uncertain about doing so. One way you can help is to support them, address their fears, and point them in the right direction. Be honest with them and tell them you're going to call KRCC and recommend an appointment. So, if you're comfortable with the idea, you should offer to go with the person to their first visit and call to make an appointment that works for both of you, or encourage them to make the call for the appointment themselves.

Note:

Referral sources, concerned friends, and family members often want to participate in the ongoing care a person receives. To help maintain good communication while also making sure to honor someone's privacy, clients need to sign releases of information that identify what type of information can be shared about their care and who can receive this information.
