What We Do
Adolescent Substance Use Intensive Program provides substance abuse treatment services to youth and adolescents in Breathitt, Knott, Lee, Letcher, Leslie, Owsley, Perry, and Wolfe Counties, as well as Buckhorn Children & Family Services.
Our program provides education and program referral information to the community, conducts initial screenings to help determine if there is need for treatment using the GAIN (Global Appraisal of Individual Needs) - an evidence-based assessment used to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning, facilitates individual and group outpatient therapy, and provides substance abuse treatment for alcohol or illicit drug use.
Adolescent Substance Use Intensive Program follows the evidence-based Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA), which is a developmentally-appropriate treatment for youth with substance use disorders that seeks to increase the family, social, and educational/vocational reinforcers to support recovery. Anyone can make a referral to our program (self- referral, DCBS, physicians, Health Department, etc.).
How do you know there is a problem?
The CRAFFT is a screening tool recommended by the Committee on Substance Use for use with adolescents. It consists of a series of 6 questions developed to screen adolescents for high risk alcohol and other drug use disorders simultaneously.
